Description
`Same River Twice' introduces 11 original acoustic songs about relationships, mortality, memories, meeting and parting, familiar themes with a new twist!
Notes
Touché are a duo from South Australia who have been playing together since 2003. They are Tess Coleman (flute, ukulele, guitar and vocals) and Michael Liddle (guitar, vocals ukulele, keyboards and songwriter).
‘Same River Twice’ is their first official release and features eleven original songs.
The title song was inspired by the words of an ancient Greek philosopher reflecting on the constancy of change and the need to make the most of every moment.
Many other songs address mortality, lost opportunities, memories of earlier times and relationships. Two songs – ‘Door Slam’ and “Second-hand wheels’ -were inspired by male-female duos where each person sees things from a different point of view. ‘Second hand wheels’, in particular builds on the analogy of second time romance being similar to buying a used car!
`Love on time’ the opening track – deals with incompatibilities in timing of romance and uses images from travel and train timetables.
“Horse without a name” recalls the promises of the 60s and the Hippie era, with references to songs by America, Creedence and other artists. ‘Devil’s teacher’ is a tongue in cheek bluesy piece about selfishness in relationships.
more.
Most songs emphasize lyric content and use acoustic instruments with little embellishment.
