Description
A collection of expertly crafted, jazz-inspired songs. With a nod to the likes of James Taylor and Earl Klugh, Tom's smooth tenor vocals and deft fingerstyle guitar-playing shine through, as do the performances of a host of seasoned supporting musicians.
Notes
More than 40 years of musical evolution, incorporating an eclectic blend of influences, have produced the precise and warm guitar and vocal style of Tom Billotto. A Charlotte magazine voted him “Best Local Acoustic” musician, saying "Tom Billotto plays brilliant guitar and his mellow voice caresses many a song with sweet notes.”
Often described as “classy” and “tasteful,” Tom’s repertoire is diverse and his sound is mellow. At the heart of this sound is Tom’s classical guitar, finger-style technique. Tom’s sound took flight during formal music studies in college, culminating in a Music Performance Degree in Classical Guitar and Voice. Further influenced by the genius of Chet Atkins and countless jazz and classical virtuosi, and with vocal idols such as James Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, no wonder a Charlotte NC-based publication referred to Tom as “…the finest professional acoustic guitar player in town…”
Based in Charlotte, North Carolina since 1988, Tom Billotto passionately pursues a full-time music career. Tom has performed with Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis, Hugh Taylor (James’ brother) and regularly works with some of the Southeast’s top musicians, including Grammy and Emmy nominated percussionist Jim Brock; Donnie Marshall, Ron Brendle, Tim Gordon and Chad Lawson. Tom's major influences are jazz, classical, James Taylor, Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Chet Atkins, Earl Klugh, Bossa Nova/Latin, Pat Metheny, to name a few .
