Description

60s Power pop meets 70s glam and 80s hard rock in a romantic and passionate way.

Notes

This album is the second in a series of Alan Merrill collections, the first being “The Face Of 69, Volume 1” which was released in 2010. Volume 2 starts off with a 6 song neo-glam combination, including English language versions of his early 70s Japanese hits that he wrote and sang with his band Vodka Collins, “Sands Of Time” and “Automatic Pilot,” plus some previously unreleased songs from that era. Songs 7 through 10 concentrate on Alan Merrill’s mid seventies work with The Arrows power pop group as front man, including the band’s chart hit singles. Songs 11 through 15 are representative of his post-Arrows musical projects and include studio recordings with Rolling Stones members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor, Traffic’s Steve Winwood, Crosby Stills & Nash drummer Dallas Taylor. Glitter band drummer Peter Phipps and bassist Dave Glover, McCartney & Wings drummer Steve Holley, Steve Gould of bands Rare Bird / Runner, Terry Taylor of The Arrows / Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, and the Derringer band (sans Rick) Donnie Kisselbach & Jimmy Wilcox. The heartfelt last song on the album "The Sound Of Jets" was written in 1976 for Alan Merrill's then girlfriend Mackenzie Phillips after she left London to resume her acting career in LA. The following two bonus tracks are Alan's glam hits from his band Vodka Collins in the seventies, Japanese language versions.
This is a diverse album and covers many musical genres showing this artist's versatility and the broad scope of his talent. -
