Description

The CD's title says it all. This is music for relaxation, yes, yet in it's diversity, featuring rich orchestral synth textures, intriguing guitar and piano based pieces, it is compelling enough to warrant repeated listenings.

Notes

The Angels and Astronauts series is the brainchild of former UA recording artist Michael Hodjera. Michael Hodjera is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and author. “I’d recorded several pop albums by the late nineties and decided to do something different,” says Mr. Hodjera about Angels and Astronauts. “I wanted to venture outside of the traditional pop framework and see where the music led me.

“The music on this first Angels and Astronauts project: 'Music For Relaxation and Inspiration' was written and recorded in two weeks. Essentially, I was writing and recording a new piece every day. I’d wake up with an idea and by bedtime I had another instrumental recorded. The music just flowed. One of my goals in making music is to surprise myself and I succeed in doing that on this first Angels and Astronauts CD. I was liberated from the “song” format, the necessity to write lyrics and melodies in any kind of traditional way, and that opened up a new world of musical possibilities. The music appears on the CD pretty much as it was written. Since I was doing something new everyday, each piece on the project is significantly different from the last. Taken together, they are intended to form a cohesive, highly listenable whole."
