Description
"Redhead" is a Rock 'n' Roll album written by William J Locker and is packed full of upbeat drums and loud, fuzzy guitars. The songs have themes of the beginnings and endings of relationships, told in a confident style mixing Rock, Blues, Soul and Pop.
Notes
William J Locker is a musician living in Des Moines, IA and writes songs inspired by his daily life. "I was raised on The Stones" is what Locker always says, and it shows in his music. He's known for his drumming in multiple bands based out of Iowa. (Bright Giant, Towncrier, Josh Davis Band) When Bright Giant decided to slow down to a halt, he needed another creative outlet.
With only a beat up acoustic guitar a friend gave him for free, Locker started playing simple power chords and writing Bluesy Rock songs in his garage in the middle of the night. "Having the mind of a Drummer really helps the writing process, you get the tempo and beat in your head, then you have a canvas to paint some guitar. Once I had a basic song recorded in my voice memos on my phone, I would start mumbling some sort of melody on top of it. Then I turned those mumbles into words that play around the beat and guitar part. All of the songs were written on that free acoustic and recorded with vintage amps and drums at my brother's (Jon Locker) studio, The Sonic Factory."
William J Locker played and sang all he could in the recordings, including guitars, bass, and all the drums. He brought in many friends to play what he couldn't. (Jon Locker- Bass / Neil Stoffregen- Keys, Organ, Guitar / Heath Pattschull- Saxes / Erik Brown- Trumpet / Lucas Welchans- Guitar / Jerry Lorenson- Extra Vocals / Nella Thomas- Extra Vocals)
"Redhead" is an upbeat Rock 'n' Roll album mixing styles of Rock, Blues, Soul and Pop. It was written by a drummer who had nowhere else to go besides inside his own head and came back with 9 souvenirs for everyone to experience.
