Aar Maanta To Release Somali Songs From The Diaspora
London-based singer, songwriter Aar Maanta, is soon to release a new EP titled 'Somali Songs From The Diaspora'. Having just wrapped up a UK tour, being the first Somali Musical Act to do so. The 6 track EP will feature live recordings from Aar's historic tour, new songs and remixes from his 2009 debut album Hiddo & Dhaqan.
After receiving great recognition following the release of Hiddo & Dhaqan. StarAfrica.com acknowledged the artist as the "Somali Culture Shaper in London." Aar Mantas' songs gives a deep expression relating to the Somali diaspora. The protest song "Deeqa" named after a Somali Airlines. Highlights the injustice Somali people receive at airports as a consequence of the "War on Terror". With critically acclaimed Jazz musician Maciek Pysz on guitar, an acoustic version of this song is also featured in the new EP.
Commenting on the release of his new EP, Aar Maanta said, " Since the release of Hiddo & Dhaqan it has been a intriguing, and exceptional journey. My most memorable being my recent UK and Horn of Africa tours. Which gave me the chance to connect to my audiences and their preferences on the album. With this realisation, I have created new sound. This EP is a taster of what is to come in the near future."
