Duo AttemaHaring consists of bass trombonist Brandt Attema and harpist Astrid Haring and is the first duo worldwide of its kind. This album presents their striking versatile combination to the world and honours the adventurous composers who wrote for them

Since the start of Duo AttemaHaring in 2008, the duo invited composers to write for this exciting combination. For their debut album they selected a variety of pieces written for them by Guillermo Lago, Chiel Meijering, Ezequiel Menalled and Martijn Padding. On the album the duo combines these pieces with arrangements of some of their favourite songs. The album includes music written by Astor Piazzolla, Manuel de Falla and a Turkish traditional song, Kavaklar. One of the highlights of the album is the composition Figur by Wolfgang Rihm, written for the unusual combination of four contrabass trombones, harp and percussion. The duo performed this piece on their debut concert, during the World Harp Congress 2008 in Amsterdam and their recording is the first recording of this magnificent composition.
