Notes
J.E.Borgen’s musical education began as a guitar tech for the indie rock band, Dispatch. It was through the experience of touring the country that Borgen first began molding his writing style and penchant for performing and a life on the road. Ultimately, the event inspired and spring-boarded J.E. on a musical journey that uprooted him from Denver to Boston to pursue studies at Berklee College of Music. It was during his time in Boston, playing clubs and schools around New England, where Borgen started to draw attention to his unique voice and contagious melodies.
On Borgen’s new album, “The General Store,” he collaborates with acclaimed Boston producer/musician, Scott Riebling (Letters to Cleo, Nina Gordon, Weezer) and brings together a talented group of players led by his band and rhythm section of Erik Privert and Dave Brophy. Local heroes Duke Levine (Ellis Paul, Jonatha Brooke), Paul Schulteis (Super Honey) and Mike Castellana (Eddie Kirkland) further enrich J.E.’s songs with their creatively organic playing styles.
“This record represents the flair and influences of folk, rock, americana, and backbeat that I’ve inherently fallen in love with since my childhood,” Borgen states. “I’m truly inspired by the intimacy and raw edginess of song writers like Dylan, Neil Young, and more recently, Jeff Tweedy and I’ve tried to reflect that sentiment throughout this record.”
J.E.Borgen has performed these songs in North America and continues to draw a strong grassroots following with fans around the country.
