Notes
A Story of Love and Devotion
In 1961 Carlos Solis and his family fled the communist regime of Havana, Cuba and settled in the Little Havana section of Miami. Carlos started writing and composing in the early 1970's and soon became well known in the area. He recorded at the Music Factory and Dukoff Studios and was also a frequent performer on local television programs.
When Carlos and Sandy were married in 1977 he decided to put down his guitar and start his own business in order to provide for his growing family. In 1986 the Solis family relocated to Clermont, FL where they currently reside. In 2007, the unthinkable happened, Carlos' beloved wife of over thirty years was diagnosed with Breast cancer. They sold their business and he spent all his waking hours with Sandy, accompanying her to medical appointments and treatments.
Carlos was inspired, once again, to write music as an expression to his wife of his love and support. He soon reconnected with his cousins 2014 Grammy Award Achievement Winner Jerry Bravo and 26 time Grammy Award Achievement Winner Richard Bravo Joining Them are Jackson King and Emmy Award Winner Grammy Nominee Camilo Valencia. The team began recording this album, a fusion of Smooth Jazz, Bossa Nova, Latin, Big Band,Swing,R&B and Beach Shag The title track, You're Not Alone, was inspired by and written for Carlos’ wife Sandy, now a cancer survivor of over 6 years, accompanied by the great Charlie DeChant of Hall & Oates on Saxophone and four time Grammy Nominee Rene Toledo on Guitar.
So many families, in one form or another, have been affected by the devastating diagnosis of cancer. Many of you have lost beloved family members and friends. But there are also wonderful stories of survivors and caregivers. We hope you will be touched by one such story.
