Chilam

Hello to all! The Beloved CD is used throughout the United States and Canada for Healing Touch, Reiki, massage therapy, in hospitals for healing assistance. Most of my music is composed in Central America or Mexico. However, The Beloved I and The Beloved II melodies were composed as I traveled a country road here in the United States. The haunting melody of The Beloved I and II, and the deeply spiritual and beautiful voice of David Tovey on Beloved I have brought thousands of people into healing.

The Watchers, Stille Pointe, Chilam, Walking the Labyrinth and Mayan Portal deepen the healing work of The Beloved. The music of The Watchers begins as a drum beat....the heart...created as I play a large circular drum from the Mexican highlands. It's sound is strength and courage. Then the voices begin as a chorus, and a flute melody line which is expressive and beautiful. The song of the Watchers builds into a mighty pipe organ hymn. It reminds me of the hymn in Chariots of Fire where a choir sings of purpose and courage in life. As The music of the Watchers begins to close you can hear the crackling of the energy. Then a mighty wind emerges from the song and stirs the listener into his/her own center and stillness. The musical motif sung by the violins is repeated over and over as we move deeper and deeper into inner silence.

Then, in the silence, there is a call, invoked by Mexican flute. This call is the movement into action. Chilam means sacred speech. From the experience of Chilam, the music moves into Walking the Labyrinth, and finally, into Mayan Portal. All of this music is characterized by drum, strings, piano, Mayan flute, and electronic sounds of energy emerging.


Who am I? I greet you as a composer, recording artist, teacher, and performer. My music has found an audience throughout the United States and Canada, and, thanks to the Internet and distributors such as CDBaby, is being sold in many other countries of the world.

From an early age I loved the outdoors. I was lucky enough to live out in the country where I could have great adventures exploring fields, woods, and streams near my home. When I was introduced to the piano, music became my other love. I played on the piano every day for hours as a child, and absorbed any classical music that my teachers could find for me to play, especially if the music had lots of passion and movement. Eventually music became my profession.

My own original music has been created because of my spiritual connection with nature, and my music education which gave me the tools I needed to play outside of myself the music that I heard inside of myself. However, it has been especially influenced by my travels into the Mayan lands of Central America and Mexico. As I walk through the rain forest of Guatemala, or the mountains of Honduras, or the plains of Mexico visiting sacred Mayan sites, my own spiritual life deepens. I compose music that captures the sacred feel for me of these lands and people, and of our Mother Earth. The Mayan Dream album was born in Mexico in 1987. The Beloved album, The Journey of Joy album, and Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth album have since been created from my continued journeys throughout the lands of the Maya.

What does my music sound like? You may hear a resemblance to Beethoven's pastoral music, or maybe a style like Kitaro without the sweeping violins, or possibly a close relationship with some of the composers who use electronic sound to create "ohm" and the feeling of centeredness. Percussion instruments from various parts of the world are an important part of the story that my music tells. I also love to use sampled bird song, thunder, ocean waves…..all of these sounds that bring nature into my music. However, it is uniquely "Beverly" music with my own musical imprint.
