Sad songs for optimists
Notes
This Ain’t Hollywood is the soundtrack to the movie you see flashing before your eyes when you hit the crash barrier at 120 km/h. This doesn’t turn out to be a Hollywood-film with courageous acts and a happy end, but your life brought back to the bare essentials.
This Ain’t Hollywood is the second album by Silence is Sexy. The band, named after an album by Einstürzende Neubauten, is often compared to acts like Editors, Radiohead, Kashmir and Interpol. Since their first album, the band has been searching for the essence of the perfect pop song. This Ain’t Hollywood is the result of this expedition. The physical album consists of a 3-page digipack and a 24-page booklet.
In 2005, the band won the Grolsch Grand Prix, the oldest and most renowned Dutch rock-prize. In 2009, the band receives the Interactive Award for their innovative concept to use the torrent-technique as a successful marketing tool. “It will only take a small step for these guys to become huge” - Julien Cottineau, Musiqualite.
