The 5 after 7 Project is a collaborative of diverse musicians residing in the Chicagoland area. The 5 after 7 Project performs thought provoking music from jazz to classical.
Artist Statement:
After doing the album Twelve Minutes of Love, I decided that I wanted to do something different. I love singing standards, but felt something was missing. So I started writing and recording live gigs at the Velvet Lounge with “The 5 after 7 Project.” This album is a combination of three performances at the Velvet. Fred Anderson’s Velvet Lounge is a very important place for me because it is where I got my beginning. Whether singing there on Sunday’s with the AACM’s Great Black Music Ensemble or doing a duet gig with Willerm or my father, playing at the Velvet provided a great opportunity. I would like to thank Fred Anderson for giving me the opportunity to hone my skills and learn every time I’m there. Thank you on behalf of The 5 after 7 Project.
