Gentle, soothing, accessible music for complementary therapy treatments, meditation and relaxation.

I am both a musician and a Reiki therapist. I wanted to make my own music to use while giving treatments and to help in meditation. This music has been developed over a number of years of working as a volunteer therapist with patients with cancer and other life-threatening conditions, and their carers, at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice on the Isle of Wight in the UK, which will receive 20% of all profits. I have used it in many individual treatment sessions and in my group relaxation/destressing classes, with great success. Many patients have asked for copies to use at home, and I have been glad to give them CDs.

This album is designed to last the length of a full treatment session (it's about 55 minutes long) and to take the listener deep into relaxation. The first 6 tracks have a tempo of 60 beats per minute - a very relaxed heart rate. There is a gentle pulse of a dholak hand drum, with a 'shamanic' rattle which appears here and there, to add a little mystery. There are soft melodies on gentle bell-like sounds, flutes, clarinets and strings, accompanied by hand percussion and acoustic and fretless bass guitar. The tracks move seamlessly into each other. At the end, so that the patient can come gently 'back to earth', the tempo rises a little and the music becomes a little more energetic.

I use this music all the time. I made it to help the people I give treatments to - including some hard-pressed medical staff! I am privileged to meet some wonderful people while working as a therapist, and I tried while making this music to put in it a lot of the love I feel for them. I hope you like it and it works for you!
