Description
Relaxing vocals and harmonies blend together with acoustic guitar, strings and keys. Results in a chill, relaxing, almost cinematic feel. Influences include Natalie Merchant, Linda Ronstadt and everything from pop to indie, folk, and country.
Notes
The daughter of a Marine aviator and a physics teacher, Joanna Duff started writing her own music and playing open mic nights in the Athens area while studying at the University of Georgia. Born in Monterey, CA and raised in Northern Virginia, Joanna moved to Los Angeles and San Diego after graduating from UGA but now lives in Atlanta. She plays regularly at Midtown Atlanta's Smith's Olde Bar, using witty banter and unexpected covers to add to her original material at shows.
Dubbed a creative spirit by family and friends, she is influenced and inspired by artists like Natalie Merchant, Linda Ronstadt, Gaslight Anthem, Jimmy Eat World and everything from pop to indie, folk, country, and even punk. Joanna's style pop folk - Southern & California cool - drawing from smooth vocals, chill harmonies, and a unique blend of instruments like guitar, cello, keys and mandolin to provide a serene listener experience.
Her first album, "We Are the Lucky Ones" is dedicated to her late father, who passed away in October 2014.
