Description

The East of the Sky Orchestra performs original "Galactic Rock," and Space Orchestral Music composed by members of the Orchestra.

Notes

The East of the Sky Orchestra was formed by Joseph Carvalho III, in collaboration with Keith T. Hall, and Mya Llure. With "Memories of Earth" the ESO completes it's musical trilogy following it's debut CD, "Begin" and it's second CD which was also a "movie" on Youtube, "In the Galaxy of Good & Evil." Carvalho serves as the "conductor" of the Orchestra, arranges all musical compositions, and composes much of the music. Carvalho plays electric guitar, six string and 12 string acoustic guitars, Synth and Kaosilator guitars, Chinese pipa guitar, synth flutes, and electric bass(on most tracks). Hall is one of of the most prolific of ESO composers and plays piano, and keyboards on most tracks for "Memories of Earth." A former violinist for the Hartford Symphony, Mya Llure provides all violin and electric fiddle work for all three CDs. Vocals are provided by the beautiful voices of Kate Mitchell, Hanna Holman, and Kelsey Veillette all recording artists with Watershops Studio in Springfield, Massachusetts. Kate Mitchell and Hanna Holman have been part of the Orchestra since the very first ESO CD. Hanna plays a beautiful Harp composition on this latest CD. Percussionist/Drummer Jeff Turcotte, formerly of the Bistro Boys and Eva Cappelli & The Watershops Band and currently plays with Joe Carvalho in the blues band "Buddy & The VPs" has been part of the ESO since the second CD. He adds a special dimension with his drum compositions and wide ranging technique. Noah Schmitt who joined the ESO for it's second CD plays cello on "Memories." Joe Carvalho's nephew Joey Carvalho who has been with the Orchestra since the beginning adds his Korg synthesizer talents again for this CD. Paul Basile play upright base again on this CD. Musical colleagues Greg Fortier and Tommy "Mac" McCarthy add their talents on two tracks.
The Music is Orchestral, classical, with "Galactic Rock" mixed in. The message of the music is peace on earth, ecological stewardship, and the wonders and possibilities of space travel. The ESO's first CD "Begin" blends songs and soundscapes providing a cautionary tale about human conflict, the beauty of earth's gifts, and the wonders of Space Travel. The second CD in the trilogy, "In teh Galaxy of Good & Evil" tells the tale of "Captain Hanna Clouddancer" as she and her brave crew of the space ship "Gallacticus" confront Evil in the form of the "Dark Lord" at the farthest reaches of the Universe. "Memories of Earth" completes the space Trilogy telling a tale of the days of humankind on earth. In this musical storyline, humans have so abused the earth that they must now leave it to find a new home on another planet perhaps never to return? PLease listen to these in one sitting, although each CD has over 15 tracks, each CD is meant as a complete piece with it's own music story arc. We hope you listen in, perhaps embrace the message, and hopefully enjoy the musical dimensions. - J. Carvalho III, Conductor
