Notes
After The Harvest is Adam's fourth original CD release on the PPMP label. Adam has three other releases on other labels making After The Harvest his seventh release overall. This project is a culmination of nearly two decades of composition, production, recording and post-production. The album features a Steinway B, Yamaha C7, Yamaha C6, Steinway D, and a Yamaha Concert Grand.
The title track, After The Harvest has a rich character that evokes subtle hints of Aaron Copeland's work. The ensemble piece features a Cello solo, percussion and a small string section. Several of the piano solos are contemplative and meditative with strong melodies and gentle rhythms. The project is ideal for quiet listening. The rich recordings create a presence that is like having the piano in your personal space. The quality of the instruments, the recordings and the playing make for a rare combination in today's highly digital music scene. All of the pieces are played, none are sequenced.
All of Adam's work represents the pianist's pianist. His style is familiar, themes recognizable after a few listens and technique achievable by intermediate and advanced players. Adam's work is popular amongst piano teachers in that it represents the soloist in all pianists. Many of the compositions are examples of genres pianists all become familiar with like classical, rag-time, boogie-woogie, stride, etc..
Adam's prior releases, Echoes In The Canyon and Keys of Hope, represent similar characteristics as solo piano projects. Center of My Heart was a more ambitious project with vocal performances, ensembles, choirs and bigger production. It certainly adds to the variety of styles that Adam can work within.
His music has been hailed as "healing" by some critics. Alas, Adam is a physician/surgeon. The countless hours he has spent along with patients and their families has been a rich source of Life Experience that is infused into these musical renditions. The many moods in the music reflect the many dramas he has witnessed.
Formally trained as a pianist and well studied as a composer, Adam continues to create musical journeys for the listener to enjoy.
