Description

What happens when you give a microphone to an army soldier and tell him to sing stories of love and loss? Something like this.

Notes

Here is a little breakdown for URYIAM or "You Are Why I Am" (if you didn't catch that ;D). This album is composed of 10 of my favorite originals written in the last few years of my army career. I didn't actually start recording (semi) seriously until about a year ago. I bought a Presonus recording bundle that came with Studio One, a simple mic, and a recording interface. With these essential tools and my laptop I began recording myself for fun in my barracks room. I soon became obsessed with the art and gladly handed my being over to the recording gods. My small studio began to grow along with my understanding of the art. Over the course of the next year, I wrote and recorded the bulk of URYIAM. The lyrics were inspired by my experiences with the army and various love interests. You can actually find all these original recordings on my soundcloud. You may even get a nice chuckle out of hearing the original versions verses the album renditions..^.^ After I had 9 songs recorded the idea hit me to go all the way with this whole CD thing. I just needed to rerecorded EVERYTHING and maybe write one or two new songs just for the album. My plan was to release the CD and have it arrive in Arkansas when I returned home for block leave before my second deployment. With the help of my genius computer science guru brother Jon, I upgraded from my silly laptop (that would crash after 10 tracks) to a fully functional desktop computer built for music processing. Now that I had better tools at my disposal, I began creating URYIAM. I probably got something like 12 hours of sleep total in the month leading up the the release...I didn't know how long it would take to have the product mass produced and I underestimated my deadline by about 3 weeks. It was a sprint to the finish line, but at last URYIAM was finished and getting ready to ship. Just a quick heads up for the future....I've already begun working on the second installment of my musical saga and there are some pretty exciting surprises coming...As my knowledge grows so will my music and I'm excited to have you all along for the ride! HOLD ON!
