From Amazon
I was given this as a birthday present from a friend and cannot be more pleased. The first 2 albums in the collection are perfect for my yoga practice to drown out any external noise in my flat and the last 2 albums yoga folk and yoga trip offer a really relaxed laid back feel with a more contemporary sound. My personal favourite is the yoga folk album but all 3 hours of music I listen to again and again. Excellent yoga gift or gift to yourself. On listening I looked into the independent music trust record label more and realised what great work they are doing to promote, help and support independent music. 5 stars :)

All the music is wonderful for enhancing yoga, meditation and spiritual enlightenment. The four themes "Relax", "Unwind", "Hold that Thought" and "Let it Go" take you on a journey for development of the spiritual self within.

I was given the Independent music trusts "Yoga Music Collection" box set by a friend as a birthday present and can't recommend it enough for practicing Yogi's and people who just want an alternative album to relax to. Not your standard collection of relaxation music this takes you on a slightly different trip. Coming in at 3 hours long the first two albums in the collection "Absolute Yoga Music" and "Yoga Music Meditation" are both excellent for Yoga practice and also general relaxation. Composed by Independent musicians all belonging to the Independent Music Trust record label the tracks are unique and not what you would normally be used to if you listen to a lot of music in this genre. Mixing both electronic and acoustic sounds the arrangements on these first two albums range from minimalist to almost classical music. One thing for sure is that they provide an great non intrusive environment for relaxation and Yoga practice. Making the collection even more unique are the third and fourth albums in the collection "Yoga Folk" and "Yoga Trip." Yoga folk is a collection of wonderfully contemplative, mainly acoustic folk music featuring new artists and songs again from the Independent Music Trust record label. Although not strictly "Yoga Music" the content and subjects of the songs on Yoga folk certainly promote a holistic, Yogi style life, with great vocal performances and some lovely guitar playing. Finally in the collection comes "Yoga Trip" which as the album suggests if more off the wall than the previous three albums. Mainly electronic music with big beats and some vocals this is an album that could be more suited to the avant garde enthusiast, I enjoyed this aspect of it though as it was different and my ears appreciated the new sounds they were often exposed to.
Overall the Yoga Music Collection by the Independent music trust is a great, very unique box set of music that I was very pleased to receive as a gift and would certainly recommend and also buy for other Yoga friends.

From Independent Music Review:
"Pleasantly surprised by labels concept album”

When I was asked to try a little known record label the Independent Music Trusts new album the “Yoga Music Collection” I must admit I was a little dubious. Envisioning escalator muzaic or the sounds of dolphins, I reluctantly agreed. Three days later I received the collection in the post. With it being Friday and the last working day before the weekend I threw the package on the breakfast table, not giving it a second thought as I shot out the door to work. As is tradition on a Friday night I stayed out for a few drinks afterwork. Eventually after some dinner with friends I arrived home to my flat at around 2am. Waking up Saturday late I had a busy day of things ahead if I was going to have Sunday to relax before returning to the weeks work Monday. Plus I still had to listen and review that new album. So Saturday went by in a flash, what with all the cleaning, washing and feeding one has to fit in these days. Before I knew it I was curling up in bed still not having listened to that new album. Waking up on Sunday morning, the rain was coming down and I was feeling a bit run down. “Best to just chill out today, watch a bit of tv and rest before work tomorrow” I thought to myself. Finishing my tea I picked up the package delivered Friday that was still on the breakfast table where I had left it. Opening it I was pleasantly surprised to find a quirky certainly different looking album to what I was expecting. Colourful, unique in design and very eye catching I inspected the album with close intent. Quickly surmising the contents I realised I might be doing even less than I thought this Sunday as I had four albums of music in front of me totaling nearly three hours of play time. Split into four different albums called Absolute Yoga Music, Yoga Music Meditation, Yoga Folk and Yoga Trip I sat back and started to listen to the first part of the album. Certainly not what I was expecting. I was impressed with the unimposing, simple melodies that were setting up a nice relaxing vibe in my flat that Sunday. Drifting off to the mellow soundscapes I don’t know if I fell asleep or just zoned out for nearly an hour, but as the music stopped I decided the go straight into the next album “Yoga Music Meditation.” With a little more going on sonically than the first part of the album but creating a similar relaxing feel I found myself listening more intently to this part of the album with its lovely classical piano, strings and bass mixed with hypnotic rounds of subtle melodies. I even listened to the full fifteen minutes of the final track, a take on a traditional Om chant. Finding myself fully immersed with the laid back groove that had been set I got myself a drink and bite to eat before seeing what the third installment “Yoga Folk” had in store for me. Taken aback would be the right words as when I hit play and a totally different sound filled my flat I realised that the relaxation parsee had finished and I was now being made to contemplate the subjects of the wonderfully simple modern folk songs that I was listening too. Thirteen tracks sung, recorded and played by various artists all belonging to the Independent Music Trust record label it is a real cracker of an album and definitely a rare find amongst the heavily commercial releases of today. Now over two hours into my Yoga music journey I was just starting to understand what this music was meant to be about. After the catchy vocal riffs and harmonies of Yoga Folk I was ready to finish my journey with the interesting looking “Yoga Trip” part of the journey. At this point I would like to say that not once had I thought about work the next week and most importantly I was laid back, relaxed and ready for whatever the World might throw at me. And Yoga Trip certainly did throw a few things at me. Once again crossing genres of music this beat filled album has more of a electric feel throughout installing feeling through the rhythms and almost avant gar-de arrangements. Particularly enjoying the catchy “Old Skool Luvva” track I totally got just where the guys at the Independent Music Trust label were coming from when they put together this collection of music. I was now three hours further into my Sunday but felt that I more than got that time back through the peace of mind listening to the album had given me that otherwise rainy day.
When reporting back to the Label it was only then that they informed me about the concept of the collection and how Yoga and its philosophies had been a consistent theme when creating and composing the tracks. “We wanted to give people three hours of not only relaxation but also contemplation and hopefully the energy to just let go.”
Featuring various artists from the Independent Music Trust including Drake Jansch, Mingus Parker, Loft House, E-DJ and the Durban Choir.
“Irie” I say. The Yoga Music Collection is now available in all popular retail stores.
