According to Plan is an alternative rock experience hailing from the north face of the Old Dominion and conceived in the outskirts of Washington, DC in the summer of 2006.
Their new album, Here's to the Up & Coming (2014) features a more distinct and darker sound. It moves away from the pop-rock that previously defined the foursome, focusing more on complex melodies and lyrical intent. The album features a collection of songs inspired by real-life experiences and the heartbreak that comes with defining loss at our worst moments, and the beauty and hope that comes with moving on.
Their newest album is just the most recent chapter in a long line of releases, E.P.'s, and compilations that previously defined the band as a pop-rock staple. But as doors close, the winds of change come calling, and for every chapter that seems to grow stale and end, a new door seems to open somewhere on the horizon.
So in spite of constraints, and the limitations of a changeless past, it remains paramount to pause and reflect, remember and relish, and cheer for what's up and coming.
