Music Born in The Great Smoky Mountains! We're Rock, We're Country, We're Everything!

A band that performs a multitude of different types of music is The Steve Whiddon Band. Behind the magic of this band’s music is Steve Whiddon who brilliantly composes the lyrics for each song himself. He began playing the piano when he was only three years old, which is impressive. He also enjoys hiking in his spare time when he is not working on his next musical masterpiece. The next important person in the band is Dave Magill who has traveled extensively around the United States improving his musical techniques. Dave plays a variety of instruments like the piano, guitar, and bass. At the same time, he migrated from Austin, Texas in 2000, to North Carolina to set up his recording studio. Since he is always eager to learn new techniques, it must be true that Dave is Mr. Wizard in the studio.

Angela Derrick Toomey sings the harmony vocals for the band and she lives in Balsam, North Carolina. Her mother is the one who taught Angie the joys of singing at an early age. She has even made appearances on TNN and she has a CD that is available at Dalton’s Bookstore. Right now, she is working with Steve Whiddon on a few projects so look for those in the future. Another vocalist that works with the band is Susan Costine. Susan makes appearances with the band, but she is mainly a solo vocalist who has done some amazing music. Like Steve, she writes her own lyrics when she records her music, but is always happy to sing with Steve’s band. She has co-written a couple of the lyrics the band uses. You can check out Susan's website at www.susancostinesongs.com to give her a listen. The majority of the lyrics that The Steve Whiddon Band use are the creativity of Steve who has a brilliant mind for music.

Other important aspects of the band have nothing to do with the actual music. Cynthia Marsh - www.cbmaspire.com - handles the band’s web design, internet marketing, and any technical projects required. She works hard to make sure every song is where it needs to be on the websites and handles the maintenance of the band’s websites. Cynthia has two boys Daniel and Brandon who are both teenagers now that keep her busy when she is not web designing for someone. She enjoys working for Steve Whiddon and his band when she can. Together each individual person in the band creates the soothing, creative tunes in the various genres such as rock and country that the band sings come to life.

They also have a whimsical sense of humor that shows through the biography for band friend Phil Turpin. The biography is just for fun, but it has changed from season to season as running comedy. At the moment, Phil is head golf professional at Bear Lake Reserve near Cullowhee, NC.
