Description

Author/composer Adama Yalomba, whose true name is Adama Traoré, was born in the mid-1970s in Kémacina, where his father, Samadji Traoré, was a farmer, artist and a virtuoso of the n’dan, a mystical six-string instrument that is traditionally played to welcome home those who have been abroad.

Yalomba is an excellent percussionist and string-instrumentalist (n’goni, n’dan and guitar), and he’s played with Balazan of Ségou, a talented group from the Ségou region in Mali, and Bronkoni of Niono, another leading group from the area

Note

The song "Plus Jamais" is a call for honest governance and religious tolerance in Mali, West Africa. The rights of so many people have been violated because of political corruption, religious extremism, and organized crime in Mali. Adama says never again!

Never again in my country
The law violated. It’s no good.
The rebellion. It’s no good.
The children violated. It’s no good
The women violated. It’s no good
Our mothers violated.
No Never again in my country
Our fathers violated. Never again in my country
The artists violated. Never again in my country
If we had good leadership in my country, we wouldn’t have division.
If we had good governance in my country, we wouldn’t have the rebellion.
The good religion doesn’t force someone to be religious.
The good Muslim does not force someone to be Muslim.
The good Christian does not force someone to be Christian
The good Buddhist doesn’t force someone to be Buddhist
Never again in my country
