Description
The blues, like all folk traditions, was meant to evolve. Its creators saw fit to push sonic boundaries and differentiate themselves from artists who came before. In that spirit these songs are modern and unique...Yet haunted by the ghosts of the past.
Notes
Old Ghosts is a collection of songs that have echoed through my imagination for quite some time. It took three years or so to exorcise these spirits but the result is something unique. These are NOT songs of my life, or the lives of those I have borne witness to. They are not songs of research and academia. These songs are hints and abstractions of things that never were...Or perhaps of things that may yet be.
The "Blues" prevail throughout this collection but never in a 12-bar format. Rock-n-roll has informed every track although that might not be the listeners first impression. The sound of "wood," a staple of the folk artists' delivery, resonates loud and clear. The resulting combination is a world that I sincerely hope will offer you surprise, refuge, and entertainment for some time to come.
