Diminutive in that moment, his outline, a man with a guitar, moved very little but his aural voice was avuncular, filling the air like a warm blanket for the soul, sealing the audience in healing cocoons both calming and rapturous simultaneously. There are artists we all encounter in our life’s journeys that have a deep and abiding impact. These people touch something in our souls as they reach out with their art almost as if this extension of them is the breath of life. All of us who have encountered Damien Duque’s spiritually infused aural soundscapes have been marked with something indelible. But it is not enough to say that Damien is a sonic shaman or that he reaches out with his guitar to breathe life into a world full of struggles and doubt.
