Notes
WHISPER OF THE RAIN
“March 10, 2014 Boston. Trying to protect myself from the rain, I took shelter in a covered gallery near the train station.
A voice nearby caught my attention: an old, seemingly homeless man ensconced in a corner, singing the National Anthem.
Curiosity getting the better of me, I approached and engaged him in conversation.
After just a few minutes, he openly began the recount his life’s story, like a wise grandfather to his young grandson. Fascinated by this glimpse into an existence so different than my own, I became entranced by the pictures created through his words.
I walked step by step along the path that Destiny, with its distinctive irony and profound cruelty had seen fit to drive this magnificent man along, to become the lonely, wise human being that I saw before me, experiencing along with him every moment, every pain, every tragedy.
I, in my turn, felt compelled to make this album because, long after meeting him, his story continued to echo within me.
I have tried to transform his moments into music, and hope his experience resonates with every note.
I have attempted to present his journey as truthfully as possible, and to endow this work with his presence.
My wish for you is that you will feel as profoundly moved by his story as I was myself.”
