Alex Meixner is one of the leading performers of polka music in the USA. He tours relentlessly throughout the country, with occasional forays into Canada and Europe spreading the happiness of his musical message. On "Happiness is a Choice", Alex again brings the dynamic energy of his live performances into the studio with a stellar crew of musicians from his working bands- and some renowned guest artists. Primarily started as a live rehearsal at Blue Cat Studio in San Antonio, TX- this album captures the collective spirit and joy of collaboration between Meixner, Hank Guzevich (of the 4 time Grammy nominated Polka Family Band), Carlton Pride (TX/ CO Reggae singer and son of Country legend Charley Pride), Michael Bridge (2013 Canadian National Accordion Champion), Hector Saldana (TX Music Hall of Famer as a member of The Krayolas) and many others. From straight up Polkas in a variety of ethnic styles to the strains of Reggae in the title track, Bulgarian and Latin Folk Rhythms, Texas country, jazz ballad and pop-- there truly is an amazing breadth to the sounds- yet completely cohesive due to Alex's strong musical vision. New compositions share the space with traditional polkas and even Amazing Grace, (although it is performed on the Hoseaphone-- "Beer Bong").
