Notes
This is The Seeds of Autumn's second instrumental release with his generally moody, reflective style. The album tracks reflect three influences: ambient, jazz and triphop, covering a broad range of styles of music.
Repeated listening will be rewarded. Some tunes take a while to develop and are not obvious in the first few bars.
The first track, Coffee and Leaves is a piece of electronic doodling that is best listened with a subwoofer. It takes a while to build up, but it is worth it. Empathy and Agency is a reflective piano piece composed for the soundtrack to the indy film Facing the Black Dog, a film on the topic of depression. Cancer and Courtney was a response to the death of a loved family cat.
The title track, The Dividing Range has jazz influences and was inspired by the late afternoon light in the Blue Mountains located west of Sydney Australia where the artist is based. The Flank of Bridenstein was inspired by old horror movie music, twisted into an electronica/jazz idiom.
