Description

The Inexorable Standoff Between Shoulders is a concept record that explores the human condition, and navigates the darker, dustier corners of the collective unconscious.

Notes

Kevin Waite is a seasoned singer-songwriter who has been writing and recording music for over 15 years. Kevin’s music has been compared to Radiohead, Coldplay, Afghan Wigs, Morrissey, Elliot Smith, and Iron and Wine. Prior to his latest record, The Inexorable Standoff Between Shoulders (TISBS), Kevin released B-Sides for the Vacuum (his first solo record), and The Stir (with his band Thester). Kevin spent the early part of the millennium honing his songwriting chops in clubs in Manhattan, but was never wholly taken by the idea of being an acoustic performer. “I wanted a bigger sound; and I’ve always found that the collective input from band members serves to open up songs in ways that no individual songwriter can on his or her own—-even with the assistance of multitrack recording.” Thus, the idea to record TISBS was born. Pieced together from songs that were written over the course of several years, and recorded over a span of approximately 5 years, TISBS required assistance from many fellow songwriters and musicians; and the end result is a concept record that explores the human condition, and navigates the darker, dustier corners of the collective unconscious.
