Notes
The Artifex Power Trio is:
Kristofer Dahl - Guitars
Magnus Östborg - Bass
Gustav Almlöf - Drums
This Swedish jazz/rock trio was active during 2004-2005. The musical climate on the Swedish live music scene is a bit narrow when it comes to live performances of this particular genre.
The project resulted in an eleven track self-released album called Artifex and one live performance at Lava Kulturhuset in Stockholm, Sweden.
The last track "Disarmed" feature vocalist David Åhlund.
The album has been reviewed on various sites. Here we present some quotations:
" Artifex [...] plays a style of instrumental music heavy on technical interchange, speed and well heaviness. They are all very good musicians [...] and while there may only be three of them, through careful composing, they manage to create a technically challenging style of music."
MJ Brady 9/4 2005 proggnosis.com
“A Great Instrumental Experience From Sweden”
Sergio Vilar - Nucleus
"Yes, nothing is sacred to these guys, not even the cows. A likeness to Forever Einstein is apparent."
Juriaan Hage - Axiom of Choice
"Artifex from Sweden are a compositionally extremely playful Progmetal trio with insatiable urge for short excursions to style directions like flamenco, coalescence, mainstream rock or Country. They are young, they are creative, they are musical very much transferred, they want to divide her freshly blossoming art with the world... [...] To some listeners the creating of "Artifex" will be probably too thick and be too breathless, but who already could itself do for the music of the tape called in this text or musicians enthusiastically, may access here quietly... Vierdient would have it three Swedes anyway... I am stretched, in any case, on more by Artifex..."
