Notes
As a boy growing up in south Oklahoma City, Alvin had the distinction of living within bicycle distance of Conway Twitty, Norma Jean, Wanda Jackson, and Hank Thompson. Even then, he knew it was his good fortune to be living in this country music hotbed. It seemed somehow inevitable and preordained; just like the time a young Alvin peered through the slats of a Oklahoma City ballroom to see Bob Wills performing with the Texas Playboys, and found himself completely mesmerized by the big band's massive, soaring sounds. Alvin's iconic voice has only gotten better with age, transforming into a warm, soothing baritone, while retaining inner traces of the pure sweet singular sound of his youth. On this collection of songs, Alvin's voice is accompanied by his own beautiful fiddle playing and he is also backed on steel guitar and lead guitar by two former members of the legendary Ernest Tubb's Texas Troubadours.
