Description

Being from the South but being influenced mainly by the East Coast and parts of the Mid-West, Wes B combines the sounds of all three styles into one unique blend of music.

Notes

Wes B has been into music almost his whole life. He was in both his Jr. High and High School bands; his instrument of choice was the trumpet. When asked why, he says, \"I wanted to play the snare, tenor drum, or the trumpet in Jr. High, but when the band teacher asked what I wanted to play, trumpet jumped out my mouth. I guess God had a different plan.\" After high school, Wes was searching for a local record company he could rap with, but nobody was giving him any type of reception. Therefore, he started XCEL Records, unofficially in 2000, then finally registering the name with the state of Louisiana in 2002.

Wes B says;
\"I started making beats on the first Playstation with the MTV Music Generator. To me, that was the greatest invention ever back then. I wasn’t making a lot of money at the job that I had, so I couldn’t afford the equipment that I needed. Many of my earlier beats were made with the MTV MG, and my earlier material was recorded on a CD recorder with two microphone inputs and one headphone output.\"

\"I know that I have the business mindset to make it in this business. All I need is for the rest of the world to notice.\"

\"\'Focus\' was recorded at my home studio, with different producers providing the soundtracks. I was set out to make the best album I’ve ever made thus far, and I have, the result is what you have here. I recorded and mixed my album myself. Included with the album is a DVD that explains how I came up with my name and the song titles and things.\"
