Description
First release from this band, though they have been together for ten years. Kim Donaldson and Gary Pay have written songs to sound historical and maybe older than their age shows. This is for all the acoustic instrument fans out there.
Notes
You get a variety of songs here, from folk, blues, cajun, americana and bluegrass. If your a fan of acoustic music you will enjoy hearing fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass, harmonica and the resonator guitar. On two cuts Chasing Away The Blues and Thats Why they Make Beer you will hear one of the greats on harmonica, Kevin Marin.
Fingerpicking guitar is on Songbird and Footprints with Calvin Patton on his Mossman guitar. Kim Donaldson is playing fiddle but can be heard on banjo on a number of cuts. No electric bass for this group, Art Thompson is handling the upright bass "Carol". Ken Simon also plays a Mossman and delivers a rock steady rhythm guitar on all cuts. Mandolin is played by 30 year veteran Gary Pay. Vocals are sung by Kim Donaldson, Ken Simon and Gary Pay.
I think the instrumentation and vocal harmonies carry this album as you let it replay on your listening device. A strong first outing from this group, so give it a listen.
