"Aux.78 is the guise of Nicholas Matta, a Portland-based sound designer par excellence and one of the few people currently finding exciting pathways connecting the worlds of experimental music and plain-spoken pop rock. Matta's latest work, SOMETIME AFTER THE FOG puts the emphasis on the former with 9-minute tracks that slowly unfurl long drones and bits of processed guitar or work off of beats that appear to have been made from samples of crinkling plastic wrap. When performing live, look for his more melodic side to take precedence but don't be afraid when the sharp left turns leave you reeling."
