Description
Contemporary Progressive Post-Industrial Chamber Music - instrumental music from the fringe
Notes
Four years after their last release, Artridge are returning with "Butterfly Wing Theory", their musical picture book of the past decade.
Over the years Christoph Mainz and Robin Pleil, the nucleus of Artridge, have absorbed and covered a wide range of styles and playing techniques - from airy electronica and neo-classical bombast to hectic cybertronic drum & bass; jazz fusion and prog to psychedelic art rock and deep into industrial dub territory.
Initially planned as a double album based on a multitude of sometimes moody, often sombre reflections on everyday life, media footage and personal convulsions, the eleven tracks represented here were conceived during many a nocturnal studio session. So here's Part 1!
This eclectic and widely unpredictable instrumental blend takes you on a trip through various musical transmutations - and back. You'll never exactly know what's lurking around the next corner:
Ambient soundscapes turned prog-rock?
Ligeti choirs meandering along industrial dub cathedrals?
Bleeping retro space age sounds?
Slide guitars with a strong battlefield BBQ flavour? Hydraulic-Goth-Jazz-Relay-Fusion?
Apocalypse Now reinacted at your local electric substation? Subterranean mid-fi agitprop garage-metal-clash recitations?
Find out!
