Description
From rock through jazz to Chinese folk and way beyond, “Electric Road” is a musical tour through a day in Hong Kong, one of the world's most vibrant and diverse cities.
Notes
Imagine a day in Hong Kong. From your plane landing in the morning, the extraordinary sights and sounds of the city through to a magical sunset and vibrant night. “Electric Road” was conceived and written as a soundtrack to your day.
Four years in the making and featuring 2 hours and 24 minutes of music, “Electric Road” was conceived at the end of the 1990s. Originally planned as a single disc, it quickly became apparent that to do the subject justice it would have to be a double-disc set and download. As with the city itself, it is a mix of East, West and all points between. From the pure pop of “Hennessy Road” and shoppers' paradise “Nathan Road” to the smooth jazz of “Our Friend Ted”, the traditional Chinese moods of “Nine Dragons” and “Two Jade Dogs”, the metallic “Snake Soup” and house beats of “Firehouse”, the project encompasses every ambience the city can conjure. Many of the sound effects were recorded in situ for extra authenticity.
Based in London but a frequent visitor to Hong Kong SAR, Dave Heaven has been playing guitar for some 45 years and has played with some of rock, pop and jazz's biggest names.
