Notes
After my dog Petey of sixteen years died earlier this year I was feeling low. I wanted to get busy with something musical to help my mind adjust to losing such a close friend. I decided to record some music dedicated to him and originally called it "For Petey". I knew I would be changing the name at some point but it helped me focus at the time. He was always with me in my studio and loved jazz. I use to call him my manager, what a dog.
All by myself with no other musicians involved was the plan, but I soon realized I needed the help of my friend Luis Conte. His percussion work on countless records has made him one of the most sought after percussionists in the world. As soon as he laid down the first shaker part I was so glad he joined me on this record. He really makes "R U Blue" come alive so I hope you enjoy the music. Barry
