Notes
In the spring of 2006, the critically-acclaimed-yet-completely-obscure South Jersey Seashore Lifeguard Convention Band rented a house for a week in Manahawkin, NJ, and recorded basic tracks for upwards of 24 songs, intended for release as a double-album.
During the mixing, however, creative, personal, and logistical problems began to emerge, culminating in the unfortunate demise of the SJSLCB. Bandleader Vincent Brue went on to form Lifeguard Nights, and the double-album, “Dark Side of the Pool” was tossed by the wayside.
In early 2008, Vincent Brue revisited his mixes for DSOTP and thought to himself, “hey, this isn’t completely f-d,” and decided to compile the best tracks onto one beautiful, strange, intense, diverse, 71 ½ minute long celebration of excess, despair, longing, mourning and rebirth.
It certainly isn’t what the band wanted it to be, but it is special.
Enjoy.
