Description

Space Rock. Modern progressive rock with psychedellic undertones

Notes

The Magick Otters are a five piece "Space Rock" band based in Macclesfield, England. They have been writing music together for over 20 years now. The music is difficult to pin down stylistically, as it moves through many different genres. Influences include Gong, Frank Zappa, ACDC, Kate Bush, David Bowie, George Benson and pretty much anyone you care to mention.
Each Magick Otters album contains one odyssey (a huge episodic song that tells a story). "Escape from the Problem Attic" is no exception to this rule. "The Greatest Ape" is a four part odyssey that tells the story of a maverick scientist who crosses humans with gibbons in a deranged experiment. It is over twenty minutes long and contains many themes that are developed throughout. Check out tracks 6-9 on the album to hear this epic opus.
The Magick Otters play live with a video backdrop for each song. Steve Young creates the music videos, which you can find on the internet (check out "thecomatoast" or "the hills"on youtube).
The band are:
Joe Kover ... Vocals, Steve young ... Drums, Fil hill ... Guitar, Jimmi Bo ... Guitar and Rob Bennett ... Bass
The instruments are not really fixed when we record. Everyone contributes on whatever instrument is required for the track and the compositional duties are shared by everyone. There are a large group of musicians available to the band who are drawn upon when necessary!
