Notes

Atlantic City, NJ (Nov. 07) - When Bob Sterling released his much acclaimed CD “Pier Pressure” in 2001, Sterling realized a longtime dream of creating a high energy jazz fusion production and brought to life the wonderful original compositions which had been written and ready for a few years prior to actual recording. He relished the basic freedom he enjoyed to create these fine compositions.

“Essence of Freedom”, the band’s 2nd release since the well received "Pier Pressure", contains much of the very welcomed raw energy, but the enthusiasm has been culled, focused and fined tuned to create another outstanding effort by the Bob Sterling Band. Essence of Freedom captures the imagination and spirit a free society generates, while paying homage to those who have given their lives, or have been injured in the defense in the precious freedom we enjoy.

For Essence of Freedom, Bob has assembled an outstanding line-up of sensational musicians. Back with Bob and always ready to play, Bob Farina on drums. He is a very seasoned pro who always plays with intensity and lays down a solid groove. You can feel the love of playing in every beat. Just 2 years after the release of Pier Pressure, Bob and the entire music world lost a legendary bass player in Wade Matthews. Wade’s credits are too long to list in this release, however, you can listen to Wade’s creative playing on the Pier Pressure CD…. Ken Joniec is Bob’s bass man now, and Kenny brings his own unique style while delivering a solid bottom end that drives the music. Rick Zayes is at the keys, and his playing is energetic. Rick does wonderful justice to the music Sterling has created. On percussion, Bryan Berthold plays tasty fills that compliment the music. The end result is another beautiful gem from the Bob Sterling band, with creative writing, interesting solos, and a lot of energy!
