Ritual - The New Blue Star Album
In april 2002 Blue Star set the course for a new album. Now, in 2003 - the new cd has been recorded, mixed and mastered.
Although this steaming album seems to be more on the carnal side there is a definate spiritual aspect in RITUAL: The title RITUAL was chosen, because each of the writing, recording and mixing sessions started with a shamanistic ritual: Blue Star invited the Four Elements and the spirits of some of the greatest late musicians to join the party and become part of the album. Ritual started as a playful journey into the unknow, guided by these helpful energies that were present throughout the entire process.
The album is also a diary of the brighter half of the year as some of the track names tell: Springbreak is a high energy jam fest of beats, drums and high flying guitars. Funk Beltaine is a groovy aspect of the pagan spring ceremony. On Midsummernight djembe and drums weave a web of complex rhythm textures while electric guitar and Rhodes fill the sky with melodies. Destination Dixie takes us way down south while tracks like Magic Forest or Moon Goddess are more fragile.
RITUAL features live drums (played by session ace Thomas Simmerl) on most of its tracks as well as ethnic & latin percussion (Roman Seehon). A piece of timeless music that blends rock, soul, jazz, r&b and world grooves with emotional guitar melodies, ripping Hammond b3 solos and cool Rhodes and Wurly textures.
Peter Blue ( el. & ac. guitars, bass, percussion) and Elisabeth Star (hammond b3, rhodes, keyboards, sampling) are Blue Star. Expressive and emotional guitar lines blend with hammond b3, rhodes and grooves and textures from all around the world. Instrumental songs sung by a guitar that has the feet in the blues and the head in the skies.
Although guitar powered, Blue Star's music is entertaining for all kinds of music lovers.
Every magic note has a meaning, as much as all those notes that are not played. Founded in 1985, Blue Star have released more than 8 cds, both on their own label Cool Breeze and in collaboration with BMG distributed Blue Flame records.
Besides their albums, Blue Star have produced a vast amount of music for libraries and tv, film and video productions.
Via the www Blue Star have found fans worldwide. The artists live in the countryside near Munich, Germany.
