Description

Drawing on British rock/pop/ska influences, BhangLassi fuse high-energy guitars with stomping beats and lyrically rich story-telling to paint a picture of late nights out, women troubles and life in inner-city, Sydney. Proper Music from Down Under.

Notes

Formed by Chris Bond and Matt Dewsnap sometime in 2004 in Woolloomooloo, Sydney Australia. Sharing one crappy acoustic guitar, copious cases of Coopers red and many bleary-eyed late nights, they started writing tunes as it was easier than working out how to play other people’s.

Their first song, ‘Geezers and Breezers’ set the tone for what was to come over the next few years of pub gigs, independently released EPs and house parties all over Sydney… “The bass is pumping, party’s jumping, so full that we can’t move, but we still groove, right thru the night, gonna feel like shite. // Wake up still drunk, furry mouth n’ bleary eyed, every bit of movement’s like a proper bit of exercise, get out of bed, fix up my head, attempt to piece together why I’m so under the weather…"

Since then they have increased in numbers, picking up ‘Spoona’ on drums, Alex Bell on Keyboards and most recently, Mike Hole on bass.

They have released three EP’s independently, played all over Sydney from the Hopetoun to the Oxford Art Factory and performed at the Surry hills festival and on FBi Radio.

Described as having, “a unique surf tinged brit-rock sound” - Their music is punchy, upbeat & infused British influences on account of the lads all growing up in England… Song-writing is clearly their strength, with a substantial set of original material featuring (30+) songs with sing-a-long choruses, melodic guitar lines, layered harmonies and beats to lose your shit to…

BhangLassi’s debut album, ‘First Things First’ features 12 original tracks spanning 7 years of collaboration, arguments, sweat, laughs a bit of blood here and there but above all brotherhood…
