The Bio

A soulful singer songwriter, Billy Buchanan is as comfortable entertaining a crowd with just his voice and acoustic guitar as he is with a full band behind him. He uses humor and wit to communicate to his audiences, keeping them fully engaged during his performances. In his music, you can hear the influences of such diverse artists as John Mayer, Otis Redding, James Taylor, Mat Kearney, Ben Harper, Van Morrison, Dave Matthews, Aretha Franklin, Bill Withers, and Ray Lamontagne, to name a few.

Billy, a St. Augustine, Florida resident, describes his music as a blend of “concrete and dirt". He explains, “I was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, but my family was originally from Georgia, and brought a lot of that culture with them. I would hear pop, hip-hop, and dance music on the street; but at home, and at my grandparents' houses, I would hear soul, gospel, and country. It all rubbed off on me".

A consummate professional, Billy has shared the stage with some amazing artists; including, Shawn Mullins, David Ryan Harris (John Mayer’s guitarist), KC and The Sunshine Band, G. Love and Special Sauce, Funky Meters, Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland), and Morris Day and The Time, to name a few. Billy’s album, Transparent, is available at many digital music retailers. The songs “The Here and Now” and “New Day” are standout tracks. His new album, Hold On, was released October 6, 2009.
