Description
A fresh and modern take on twelve Christmas favorites, arranged for the marimba and vibraphone.
Notes
Let It Snow is a collection of brand new holiday arrangements for marimba solo and marimba/vibraphone. Blume's fresh arrangements are a modern take on several classic Christmas works, demonstrating the versatility and beauty of the marimba and vibraphone. A perfect complement to a quiet evening by the fireplace, Let It Snow is an engaging yet relaxing album intended for lovers of Christmas music and keyboard percussion music alike. So get that fire going, light up the tree, grab some eggnog and a few friends, and Let It Snow!
Behind the Music (a note from the artist):
This album has taken shape over the last two years and is a product of incredible support from many people.
It began with an invitation to play marimba at a Christmas Eve worship service in December of 2010. Not having any Christmas music to play on the marimba, I quickly arranged two tunes to perform for the service. I recognized at this time that there was a need for new holiday arrangements for marimba.
The following Christmas season, I was invited to play a concert at the same church, but I needed more music. I found a great resource in Nathan Daughtrey’s Yuletide Marimbist, but wanted to arrange my own music, too. So three more arrangements were created. After the concert, several people asked if I had CDs available, to which I shamefully replied, “No.” But I decided that when I was asked that question the following Christmas, I would reply with a proud, “Yes!” So I arranged seven more pieces, including marimba and vibraphone duets, and began planning my album.
Facing the costs of creating a full-length, professional-quality album, I knew I needed help. And in the most humbling way, help came. I ran a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds necessary to make the album, and due to the great generosity of many supporters, it was quite successful. I am thrilled to present to you the finished product of such wonderful support and many months of hard work! Enjoy!
