BRADY CLAMPITT
Things Are Different Now
“Soulful and incredibly soothing, while being very much rooted in the blues." - Ignition Music Magazine
Gutsy vocals, rugged horns and muscular grooves come together to make up the meaty portions of Things Are Different Now, the latest offering from Jacksonville's rising singer-guitarist Brady Clampitt. Tracks like "Come Home" or the album's title track earn comparisons to other southern rockers like JJ Grey or The Tedeschi-Trucks Band. Meanwhile, "Quit It" hints at a more Lee Brice-like country sensibility.
After having been a featured artist on Jacksonville CW17's episodes of YourJax Music, Clampitt’s notoriety in the southeast kept rising to new levels as a session player after appearing on a handful of independent releases. Recently, this Berklee alum has been seen touring alongside Nashville’s Sonia Leigh in addition to his steady gigs in other southeast hubs like Atlanta, Charlotte, Savannah, and Charleston.
In January of 2012, Brady started the pre-production process on his debut at his home studio. Six months later he would be humbled by the opportunity to record with famed producer Jim Devito (JJ Grey & Mofro, Donavon Frankenreiter, Swamp Cabbage) at the legendary Retrophonics Studios in St. Augustine, FL. "Making this album with Jim was an absolute joy," says Clampitt. "That man is an encyclopedia of vintage tones." Along with an All-Star backing band, listeners can look forward to cameos by harmonica menace Isaac Corbitt (Corbitt Brothers) and percussionist Craig Barnette (Donavon Frankenreiter, JJ Grey).
