Description
A solid mix of Rock, Hard Rock, Pop Rock, Metal, and some instrumentals thrown in for good measure.
Notes
BUMP is the child brain of three talented musicians based just outside of Chicago, Il. Joe Rocha (Bass/Vocals), Jay Rocha (Drums), and Dave Benziger (Guitar, Vocals).
They have been playing as side musicians for other artists in the Chicago area for over 20 years and have recently had the time and opportunity to record their own debut, self-titled album.
The opportunity came about when a guitar hero of Dave’s, Carl Verheyen (guitarist for the band Supertramp and A-List Hollywood television and movie session guitarist) suggested that the band come out to L.A. to record an album with him as producer.
You see, as much as the guys like making their own music and performing live as BUMP, their main goal is to be out on the road as side musicians for artists on the pro circuit. With help from their friends who are already on the pro circuit playing for today’s biggest artists, they are well on their way to achieving that goal. And with the release of “BUMP”, they have a major catalyst in getting there even faster!
The CD itself is a solid mix of Rock, Hard Rock, and Pop Rock, with an explosive metal instrumental track (“Super Karate Monkey Death Car”) and a blues-y, laid back instrumental (“Everything Will Be Fine”). There’s even a punk cover of the Tom Jones classic, “It’s Not Unusual.” You may even notice something that you may have never seen (well, heard) on a CD before – outtakes tracks. They’re snippets of funny goof-ups, goof-offs, and nonsense that were recorded while the band rehearsed for the actual recording sessions and during the recording sessions themselves!
The CD itself was recorded at one of the most famous recording studios in music history - the legendary Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California. Some of the artists that have recorded there are Led Zepplin, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Sheryl Crow, and Paul McCartney, just to name a few. The BUMP cd was actually recorded in the very same room where Prince recorded tracks for “Purple Rain”, and where The Wallflowers and The Counting Crows recorded their biggest albums. Fun fact: the very same week that BUMP was recording their CD at Sunset, The Dixie Chicks were recording their current album, “Taking The Long Way”, in the next room over!
After years of dreaming, planning, working, networking, schmoozing, and things that the band prefers not to talk about, their first major step has been completed. They hope that you will enjoy the samples that you hear on this site and will send your support by purchasing their baby at CD Baby. (Man, was that cheesy. Sorry)
