Description

A pop/rock journey into the fall and imagined success of a romantic relationship.

Notes

After releasing 2000's Butch Berry, 2002's Unlimited, 2004's Ex-Girlfriend and 2007's The Brink/Ripe, all engaging albums that netted praise from San Francisco Daily, Performer Magazine, Zero magazine and a zillion blogs, Butch played many local shows and a California west coast tour. He thought about how to expand the scope of his own endeavors. Already known for concise blasts of pop and energetic stage shows, Butch wanted to create a deeper intimate and more enveloping experience.

Taking the ups and down of a relationship, Butch decided to create the most intimate album he's ever done, using autobiograhical and imagined postive experiences.

In late 2009, he took time writing new material and tinkering with stories, and Enamorado began to take shape. He quickly realized that in order to achieve his creative vision, he would need more than the standard love story and spent the next three months writing songs.

Butch finally finished writing Enamorado then starting working on the arrangements.

Buzzing from the finished songs, he dove head-first into recording the songs. After months of recording at Campbell studios, he mixed and mastered with producer Charles Campbell who then blew up the sound environment Butch had created into a high-definition, ultra-widescreen sonic universe. The music is written to work in layers - originally for an audio canvas, but here re-arranged and re-orchestrated to create an engrossing experience for anyone with a pair of speakers (or headphones, ideally).

Enamorado, opening with a traditional spanish flavored song, ending with a Beatle-esque strings and harmonies song of a positive imagined ending, more than any previous release by Butch, feels like a true album in the classic sense. It's not so much nine distinct songs as one epic suite with mood swings.
