These alternately high-spirited and lushly evocative jazz compositions highlight Paul's continually evolving musical diversity. Tracks of rollicking buoyancy like "Waltzing on the Hudson" and "My Place Tonight" contrast with the sonorous , improvisational voyages of "Meltdown" and "Baghdad Blues". " Spanish Flame" is a fresh take on the jazz flamenco tradition.
Interspersed with these ensemble pieces are solo piano tracks by Paul, intimate spaces of personal dialogue between the composer and the listener.
In addition to Paul on piano, the all-star cast of N.Y.C. musicians includes Reggie Pittman, (tpt); Elise Wood, (flute); Bryce Sebastien, (bass); Warren Smith, (marimba and percussion); Lloyd Haber and Kevin Twigg, (drummers).
