Description

Honky Tonk music from the five-time Texas Music Awards winner. Country music from a country girl. She lives what she sings about.

Notes

This debut album demonstrates the strong country western roots of Pauline Reese that carved her name into the Texas country music scene and beyond. Filled with original music by solid song writers, Pauline's powerful and fluid voice brings them to life as only she can do.

The music set starts with "What's His Name" reflecting a catchy tune about a common human experience. "Blink of an Eye," supported with fiddles, gives this peppy tune a Bluegrass feel and a solid message. The poignant "Take Me Away" showcase's Pauline's smooth vocals full of emotion. "Half a Heart" pulls in her pop country feel complete with steel guitar, a compelling beat, and the dilemma of a love and hate relationship. "The Bottle" puts a unique and humorous spin on the common experience of using alcohol to escape depression: "The bottle's never let me down before" theme resounds through the song. Then Pauline moves into heartbreak territory with "You Don't Laugh Anymore," an emotional lament about broken relationships. Appropriately, a snappier melody continues the depression theme in "Better Off Blue" as if putting a period on the previous song, accompanied with fun instrumental interludes. The pace then takes a sharp turn with "Black Vinyl Car Seat," a rocking country tune about the "burning" excitement of love. The set is capped with a modern country sound in 'Oh Lonesome You," the parting words to a former lover, effectively played and sung with emotion you can feel.

It's not hard to see why Willie Nelson declared Pauline Reese to be one his favorite female country western singers. More and more, people are agreeing with Willie. The absence of Pauline's music from one's collection leaves a void. Try her debut album and see if you agree. Not only are we sure you will, but you'll want the rest of her albums to complete your musical enjoyment and fill your heart with her infectious voice and style.
