Celebrated Parisian violinist Jason Meyer teams up with U.S. piano virtuoso Paul Bisaccia for a CD of classics as well as new compositions by Meyer.

Notes

"Jason Meyer is a marvelous composer and a great violinist."
Martha Argerich

Jason Meyer manifested a serious talent for violin, piano and composing at age nine. He studied composition with Arnold Franchetti (a disciple of Richard Strauss) Norman Dinnerstein, and the violin with Renato Bonacini at the Hartt School, University of Hartford, where he graduated with a double Bachelors Degree in violin and composition. Two years later he received his Masters at New England Conservatory in Boston where he studied with Eric Rosenblith, chamber music with Leonard Shure (a Schnabel protégé) and Rudolph Kolisch (associate of Shönberg, Webern, Bartok and Korngold.) He has also studied at the Chigiana in Sienna with Luigi Dallapicolla (composition) and Salvatore Accordo (violin). Former Concertmaster of the Opera Company of Boston, he also played in the BSO and for 14 years played with the celebrated Boston Pops under John Williams and taught chamber music at the New England Conservatory's Prep division.
Following his heart, his fortune and the muses guided him to Paris - now his home for 28 years. In France he became Concertmaster of l'Orchestre de Tours, the contemporary music Ensemble 2e2m, and L'Orchestre Pasdeloup and the Opera of Toulon. He also was a professor at the Conservatoire National de Troyes where he created a young people’s orchestra that he directed for 8 years.
He co-founded the piano trio, Le Trio de Lutes, which was invited 3 times to perform at the prestigious Cambridge (England) International Chamber Music Festival. He co-created the Parisian Klezmer-Gypsy-Eastern-bloc music group Yankele, which has toured 3 times in the U.S. and played in many European capitals. He has recorded for Sony, EMI, Harmoniun Mundi (3 Stars awarded by Le Monde for the Violin Concerto de Prechez), Buda Music and Didier Jeunesse. Mr. Meyer’s compositions will soon be published for Editions Lemoine. He has written music for film, theatre, and advertisements for international TV and radio. Most recently he was a guest on France Musique, on Les Traverses du Temps with Marcel Quillévéré, a 50 minute interview dedicated to Mr. Meyer’s artistry.

Paul Bisaccia made his European debut at age 17 and has performed concerts on four continents. He graduated summa cum laude and first in his class from the Hartt School. His vast repertoire includes the great piano classics and he was the first artist to record the complete solo piano music of Gershwin. His PBS television show, Gershwin by Bisaccia, has been seen by millions and was dubbed into Mandarin Chinese for broadcast in Asia. Michael Feinstein calls Paul Bisaccia and the Great American Piano, his second television show for PBS, "imaginative, fun, well played and totally satisfying." His third television show, Chopin by Bisaccia has been included in his newest DVD release Bisaccia on Television!
The Hartt School honored Paul with the Alumnus of the Year Award and the Governor of Connecticut proclaimed Paul Bisaccia Day in the State of Connecticut. PBS celebrated the day with a rebroadcast of his television shows. Bisaccia was also honored to perform Rhapsody in Blue in inauguration ceremonies for the new theater on the site of Aeolian Hall in New York, where Gershwin himself first performed his legendary masterpiece.
A prolific and versatile recording artist, Paul has recorded over 300 individual compositions covering a wide range of composers, including huge segments of the music of Chopin and Liszt, all available on amazon.com. Many of his television and film clips can be seen on YouTube. His new book describing his life as a concert pianist, Piano Player – Memoir and Master Class, has just been published.
