Description
Dustbowl-era inspired music blended with modern composition.
Notes
All music was composed for the short film, "Wrong Side Up", a coming of age story about a twelve-year-old boy whose fate is determined by his father’s departure and the impending Dust Bowl.
Four tracks were composed by film composer Christopher Joye and feature banjo and fiddle, along with modern soundtrack instrumentation. They range stylistically from impending uncertainty to carefree, child-like moods.
One track was composed by The Dustbowl Revival and Zach Lupetin. It is a beautifully arranged track for vocals (and trumpet and trombone) that nails the overall mood of the Dustbowl era - raw, soulful, and wrought with tense emotion. It is a perfect match for the film.
"Soldier Boy" was recorded at Crown City Studios in Pasadena, California.
"Hesitation", "A Good Duck", "Storm Stories", and "Leave Now" were recorded at The Decibel Garden in Denver, Colorado.
"Hesitation", "A Good Duck", "Storm Stories", and "Leave Now" credits:
All instruments performed and programmed by Christopher Joye, except for
Fiddle performed by Katie Glassman
Banjo performed by Dusty Rider
Pedal steel and harmonica performed by Brett Stakelin
Album credits:
Produced by Christopher Joye, Henry Darrow McComas and Crooked Lake Productions
Executive Producer Henry Darrow McComas
