Description
A Narrative Symphonic oeuvre that combines the sweetness of great melodies with the strength of punching epic passages
Notes
Las Navas tells the story of the legendary "Las Navas de Tolosa" battle, that took place in the south of Spain in 1212. It is composed by twelve movements which show the feelings, the characters, the atmosphere and the facts that happened during the march of the Christian troops to the encounter against the Muslim forces.
It starts with the sad, almost depressive atmosphere that invaded the Christian Kingdoms after the Alarcos Defeat and the slow, progressive creation of the Christian Army. In the second Act, the music evokes the exotic atmosphere of the Muslim Court in Seville and the progress of the Christian troops marching to the South. The third brings the audience to the heart of the battle, when a great Chorus suddenly bursts in the scenario and relates the fight.
The oeuvre finishes with a Te Deum, since it was sung by the Christian Knights in the middle of the battlefield.
